No. We're not selling anything.

Everyone like to buy things for themselves (and sometimes even others) every once in a while. We're no different.

Occasionally, you may see some members with interesting manga, DVDs, manga, magazines and other trinkets. Since this stuff is all generally anime or Japan-oriented, it's normally hard to find. Here is where we'll tell you where we get it all along with our comments about them.

The orgainization should be fairly straightforward, so I won't bother explaining it, but if you have any questions, reccomendations or corrections, don't hesitate to send an email.

AMO Tokyo

AMO Tokyo is a favorite shop of many of us. It's a small operation based out of Tokyo run by a few guys who LOVE anime and manga (AMO stands for: Anime and Manga Otaku). The service is very personal, you can even send emails to the founder/owner/whatever and he writes back, in english! They have almost any DVD that you could ever want and if they don't have it you can just ask and they'll get it for you. The prices are really good there too. The only thing that may keep a few people from them is that when you first sign up they want to you fax or scan a copy of your credit card because they were burned by massive credit card fruad in the past. After that, though, ordering is very simple and fast. This is, by far, my favorite shop. Please give them a try.

Amazon.co.jp

I have no personal experience with Amazon Japan but I've only heard good things about it. They've even had so many overseas customers that they've translated their ordering system into English. As with Amazon US the selection is huge.

Amazon.com

This is a good place to get all your books that come from america. More specifically it's a good resource for Japanese learning books (dictionaries, etc.). No problems.

Animate USA

This is the american branch of the huge Japanese chain "Animate". I put them here no only because of the anime merchendice that they carry, but also because they have some nice clear manga covers (they're like book covers but they're clear and they fit different sizes of manga). Unfortunately my only experience with them was bad. They switched my order with someone else's so I got someone's Bishonen manga. It took a long time to get it all straightened out but they did give me some goodies to try and make up for it. Outside of that I've not heard anything bad about them. I say give them a try and tell me about your experience.

CD Japan

Another good source for Japanese DVDs and CDs. A large selection, but no personal service and the shipping and handling charge is giant. A nice place for CDs, but I say stick to AMO for DVDs (heck, while you're at AMO you might as well get some CDs there as well. heh).

JaMall

This is an excelent place to get Japanese books and manga from. The only catch is that to search their site you have to use the ISBN. Trust me. They have some of the wierdest and most inconsistant romanizations anywhere. They do, however, list almost everything that Amazon Japan does. In fact, I haven't found anything that they don't list. The only bad thing is that you don't know if they have can actually get ahold of what you want. They'll try to get it for you for two weeks and if they can't get it they'll just cancel it. Once they ship it only takes a week to get to you. Shipping prices are good and they have a really good order status page (you can watch as they try to find your items).

J.D.C.R.

This place is the best! It's just like AMO: a small operation, with very personal service. This one is actually just one guy doing everything. I order all my magazines and manga magazines (Ultra Jump, etc.) from here. Just like AMO you can ask for anything that they don't have. They also have a large selection of hentai magazines, if that's your kind of thing. Shipping is more than DVDs because they weigh more (obviously) so to save money I normally choose slower shipping. Since I order once a month, though, I get magazines once a month. They just come a little later than the Japanese get them. I believe that you can even get subscriptions if you ask for them.

Kanji Kit

This is a great place to get Japanese learning things. I bought my electronic dictionary here and the price was the cheapest that I could find anywhere (and I looked long and hard). Good service and good prices.

Planet Anime

I put this here because they sometimes have some hard-to-find manga that I just can't seem to get anywhere else. A good place to give that one last check becore you give up. Service is fine, I just have all these other better stores that I use instead.

Sasuga Books

These guys can get anything but they're a bit expensive and if it's not in stock when you order be prepared to wait a month or more. Another good "last resort". Service is fine, but I've grown tired of waiting and have found better places that ship faster and have better prices.

Suncoast

Great source for US DVDs. Every so often they run some nice sales where you can save lots of money. Their prices are always good and their selection is huge. If you want to order US DVDs online this is the place I reccomend.
